THE EXPIRED DAYDREAM collection is inspired by the 1994 film, Chungking Express, by Wong Kar Wai. The collection takes reference of one of the film's characters, Faye -- a naive, carefree spirit, who acts at her own pace, and believes in the vitality of her love. The bittersweet and melodramatic mood of the film is translated into the pieces of this collection.

Abstraction, imagination, and unforgiving reality are intertwined in the film, creating a shape, a design, that results in a very strange, daydreaming state of mind, where wants, wishes, and delusions flash before your eyes. There is a genuine optimism in the characters of Chungking Express despite their failures or inexperiences at love -- especially noticeable in Faye. Her optimism and energy can be felt through her thoughts, quotes, and actions. She falls in love with cop 633 without knowing that she was in love, and expresses her affection in a peculiar way. She sneaks and snoops into his life, cleaning his apartment and prying into his private life, all the while leaving no trace of her presence and having no intention of letting him know that she cares, perhaps content with her feelings of love alone. The collection sets to express this complication of feelings. That pure and raw sense of hope and optimism shining through layers of loneliness, isolation and desperation.

The collection reflects the complicated emotions of the film in the form of contemporary luxury women's street wear. The collection plays with the vibrant and vivid shades of the colour wheel. Bright and colourful prints inspired by social media’s emojis and each of the four main character and collages of expiration-date labels digitally manipulated are created. Twists of deliberate plays of proportion and details are used extensively, mixed with layers, silhouettes, colours, and prints in this collection titled THE EXPIRED DAYDREAM.
