THE CHROMATIC DIVERSION takes you on a party trip the psychedelic 60’s with his youthful and fresh take on design. For the young designer's futuristic AW17 collection, think English garden party set on Mars! The garments are a fusion of techni-coloured space inspired prints against the statement box silhouettes of the 60’s and the laid-back sportswear vibes of the 90’s; the eccentric garments feature an endless clash of bold colours, unique graphic prints and an abundance of ruffles.
The collection is dismantled into four main sub-themes: Copper & Red featuring rich and vibrant hues of orange, copper and red mismatched with luxurious faux fur and neoprene, Black Black featuring various hues and textures of black in various materials mixed to create a mysterious and low-key vibe, Boyish Ruffles featuring endless ruffles on garments inspired by menswear and finally, Bang Colours featuring signature ALEX S. YU usages of bright, vibrant and rich colours one after another.
The original print designs are an amalgamation of popping outer space landscapes, dazzling glittery bright nights and tech savvy computer glitches. Each piece from the collection is affiliated with Alex’s fun and daring personality, bursting with life and oozing originality. Crisp and cool metallic mix with rich Japanese cotton and vivid coloured garments are completed with faux fur for an offbeat and quirky aesthetic. This collection will take you to another planet.
